Why is Edmonton favored here? That’s the first question bettors should be asking, because based on what we’ve seen through three games, this series has been about as even as it gets — arguably more balanced than Dallas–Minnesota. In fact, Anaheim holds the edge where it matters most: time of possession in the offensive end at 5-on-5. The edge is slight but it confirms how evenly matched this series has been. This series has been much more competitive than the price suggests.

Anaheim hasn’t dominated Edmonton, and they certainly haven’t controlled play every time Connor McDavid has been on the ice. What they have done is play the Oilers evenly, and at times they’ve been the better team for meaningful stretches. That’s the key point here. The Ducks are not outclassing Edmonton, but they’re also not being outplayed.

Through three games, Anaheim holds a 2–1 series lead, and they’ve earned it. They’ve generated offense, handled momentum swings, and shown they can compete shift for shift. This has been a back-and-forth series, not a mismatch. In an even matchup like this, home ice matters, and there’s no compelling reason the Ducks should be priced as an underdog in their own building.

The Oilers leak chances. They’ve been doing it for months. High-danger opportunities against them show up shift after shift, and when the goaltending isn’t extraordinary, the results unravel quickly. They win when everything breaks right. They lose when it doesn’t. That’s not a formula you want to trust as a favorite.

That doesn’t mean Edmonton can’t win — of course they can but the market continues to price them like a more complete team than they’ve shown themselves to be. Reputation and star power carry weight, but hockey games are decided by structure, depth, and consistency over 60 minutes.
