7:00 PM ET. OT included. We were on the Kraken Tuesday night in Montreal, and for 57 minutes it looked like the right side. Then, in classic hockey fashion, the ticket went up in smoke — a late equalizer, an overtime dagger, and a losing bet that deserved a better fate. Seattle did everything right except win, and the market doesn’t care. That’s where we come in.

The Kraken roll into Ottawa with a point in all three of their games and playing the right way. The results are fine — the process is even better. They’re generating consistent pressure, they’re getting scoring from all over the lineup, and Joey Daccord is giving them a chance to win every night. The effort in Montreal was legit; it wasn’t luck or flukes. The Kraken controlled large stretches, outworked the Canadiens, and created chances in bunches. The only thing missing was a little finishing luck, and that evens out.

Now, let’s flip to the Senators, a team bleeding goals like it’s going out of style. Ottawa has surrendered 18 in its last three games, and when you’re allowing six a night, there’s no such thing as “bad luck.” That’s bad hockey. The Sens just got bombed for eight in Buffalo and now have to turn around and play again less than 24 hours later with the same defensive corps that looked completely lost. The optics look fine — home opener after a frustrating road loss — but the reality is this group can’t stop a puck right now, and that’s a big problem against a fast, confident Seattle team that comes in rested and hungry.
