NY Rangers -½ +130 over Vancouver

10:00 PM ET. Regulation only. This one stands out like a sore thumb. The Rangers have dropped three straight and looked miserable doing it — yet they open as a road favorite in Vancouver. That’s the market telling you something.

The narrative says New York is lost. They can’t score at home, their structure has fallen apart, and Mike Sullivan is already under fire less than a month into his tenure. All true. The Rangers have been flat. Their last outing, a 5-1 loss in Calgary, was a low point — careless turnovers, no urgency, no bite. When a team looks that bad, the knee-jerk reaction is to fade them. Yet they’re favored on the road, in a building where Vancouver just clawed to an emotional overtime win over Edmonton. It makes zero sense on paper, which is exactly why we’re interested.

Vancouver’s win on Sunday was gutsy, but it came at a heavy cost. Quinn Hughes, the engine of their transition game, was ruled out just before puck drop, and they lost Victor Mancini mid-game. They finished that one with five defensemen, leaning on guys who should be in Abbotsford. The Canucks’ back end is now a patchwork unit with no mobility and no depth. Even Thatcher Demko can only hold that dam for so long.

The Rangers are in a foul mood, and road trips are often where teams rediscover rhythm. Sometimes the best medicine for a team stuck in neutral is getting out of town and playing a simple, direct road game. J.T. Miller returns to Vancouver for the first time since the messy split, and while the media will spin that as a distraction, it’s a motivator. Expect New York to show up with purpose.
