Seattle +130 over Montreal

7:00 PM ET. OT included. The market is showing its hand again, and it’s pointing us toward a live dog with bite. Seattle heads into Montreal having opened its season 2-0, outscoring Anaheim and Vegas 5-2 while looking like a group that’s buying what new head coach Lane Lambert is selling. Yet here they are, taking back +130 against a Canadiens team that’s being priced as if it has already turned a corner.

Let’s be clear — Montreal’s 2-1 record looks nice on the surface, but there’s not much under the hood. The Habs were buried in their opener in Toronto, then beat Detroit and Chicago — two flawed teams with defensive issues. They went 3-for-15 on the power play through those games and needed a last-second goal from Kaiden Guhle to squeak past the Blackhawks. That’s not dominance; that’s survival.

Seattle, on the other hand, has done its work quietly — and efficiently. Joey Daccord has stopped 61 of 63 shots through two games, the Kraken have killed three of four penalties, and their five-on-five structure looks far more cohesive than anything Montreal has shown. This is a team that’s built for road hockey — layered, disciplined, and dangerous in transition — and they’ve already taken three of the last four meetings in Montreal.

The Canadiens’ stock is inflated because of early results and a few highlight-reel goals. The Kraken’s stock, meanwhile, remains low because they haven’t been in the spotlight yet. That’s the imbalance we look for.
