The Lightning have won six of their last eight, but a quick look at that run shows that they’ve been feasting on some of the weaker squads to rack up those victories (Anaheim, San Jose, Ottawa, Buffalo). When the Bolts played an elite team like Carolina, as they did last Thursday night, they were outshot 55-to-26. Tampa was also outplayed and outshot by the Kings in a loss to close out October.

We backed the Oilers last night and ripped up that ticket. It doesn’t take long to figure out where the Oilers went wrong last night, as they gave up four power play goals. Outside of that, shots were near equal, and 5-on-5, Edmonton outscored the Capitals 4-1. The penalty count was stacked against the Oilers as well, as they were granted just one power play opportunity of their own.

The prudent play is to “stick with it”. If we saw value in the Oilers as a favorite last night, we see even more value in Edmonton tonight as an underdog against an overrated and overvalued host.
