L.A. Clippers -2½ over Toronto

10:10 PM EST. The Raptors have cashed tickets in two of their first three games on this road trip that started with back-to-back games in D.C. and has now moved West. Toronto hung with the Nuggets on Monday night and sent their backers to the pay window as a 6-point pooch. That was the Raps' third cover in four games. With the recent run of success at the pay window, combined with the Clippers' woes, the Raptors are not taking back a short price against a legit NBA title contender.

The Clippers have won just one of their last six games and three of their last 10 overall. In a world where winning matters more than anything else, those poor results have the Clip Joint taking heat from the media and the market. While the L’s adding up make the headlines, it is worth noting the Clippers have played a tough schedule. Losses to Dallas, Milwaukee, Sacramento (twice), Denver, Minnesota, and Golden State are not bad losses. One of those games (at Denver) went to OT, and another (vs the Kings) went to double OT. If one wanted to get really nit-picky, the Clippers lost both games to the third-placed Kings by two points. The point is, the Clippers have played the best of the best in the West, and now they take a big step down in competition.

The Clippers have been banged up in one way or another for much of the season, but they are as healthy as they’ve been and will field their full lineup tonight. There have been growing pains getting everyone acclimated to the new climate, but those growing pains now allow us to take advantage of a short-priced favorite on its home court against a Raptors side that is playing its third road game in a different time zone in four nights. If the deflated price wasn’t appealing enough, the unfavorable situation the Raps are in puts the cherry on top of this sundae. Let’s eat.
