Oklahoma City +137 over Sacramento

8:10 PM EST. The Kings have not seen their stock this high since the glory days of Chris Webber, Vlade Divac, and head coach Rick Adelman at the turn of the century. The playoff drought in Sacramento has lasted since the end of Adelman’s tenure in 2006. The Kings have been so bad, they’ve never finished higher than 9th (usually settling between 11th-14th) in the West since that era, and they’ve burned through 11 head coaches in the 17 years since Adleman left the club.

Back to the modern day, where the Kings are currently sitting third in the Western Conference. Sacramento is currently riding a three-game winning streak, including a 124-115 win right here in Oklahoma City on Sunday night. Sac-Town was a 4-point favorite in that game, easily covered, and yet, the oddsmakers made the Kings a smaller price tonight. Why?

Lineup-wise, Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is still out, as he was last game, so there is nothing to adjust to there. Moreover, Oklahoma City has now lost three straight and three of four, so it’s not like the Thunders’ stock is on the uptick. Finally, where it matters most, at the pay window, OKC has cashed one measly ticket in nearly three weeks and that came against the lowly Rockets. Again we ask, how can the books post the Thunder taking back a smaller price tonight than they were on Sunday?

We cannot predict who will have the hot hand tonight. Nor can predict which team will turn the ball over more or which side will miss its free throws. What we can do is listen when the oddsmakers are screaming at us. That is the case here. The books could have given the Thunder a bucket or two more tonight and not likely swayed a bet. Are the books not begging for action on the Kings here? We backed the Thunder on Sunday night and we are not going to back down here. In fact, we’re going to be bullish and take OKC to win this game outright.
