1:05 PM EST. There was some concern about the status of Ben Lively (RHP - CLE) after he left his last start against the Marlins, but it appears the Guardians were just being cautious. Despite some discomfort, Lively threw five scoreless innings in Miami. His start was pushed back a day, giving him extra rest before facing a Blue Jays team that struggles against right-handed pitchers, hitting just .232 (21st) with a slugging percentage of .372 (also 21st).

The Blue Jays shut out the Guardians 5-0 yesterday, but it wasn’t due to a lack of effort from Cleveland’s bats, as they outhit Toronto 8-to-7. Today, José Berríos (RHP - TOR) is tasked with keeping the Guardians in check, but he has shown vulnerabilities recently, including allowing three home runs against the Brewers on Monday. This season, Berrios has a high strand rate of 88%, but his strikeout rate is down nearly 2K/9 compared to last season, and his swing-and-miss rate has dropped from 11% to a mere 8.4% in 2024. He's not missing bats anymore, relying heavily on his defense. With an ERA of 2.93 and an xERA of 4.56, a regression seems likely, and we’re betting on that correction today.
