7:45 PM EST. Trust us when we suggest that Adam Wainwright (RHP - ST. L)wouldn’t be anywhere near a pitcher's mound if the Cardinals were fighting for a playoff spot. Wainwright is pitching tonight because the Cardinals are paying this stiff 17M this year and he would have to be in a coma for management to skip over his start. They’re paying him and they don’t care if his arm is falling off. He gonna pitch, man. They ain’t paying him 17M to count heads on the bus on the way to the stadium. 

Adam Wainwright has a WHIP of 1.98. We’ve never seen a WHIP that high over 20 starts ever and we’ve been doing this for a very long time. Wainwright has a lousy 52 K’s in 94 innings. He has walked 39 batters for a horrible ratio. His swing and miss rate is 4%. Bob Barker died on August 26th at the age of 99. Bob Barker could have gotten a hit off of Wainwright on August 25th. Career-lows in everything and ranking last among qualified pitchers in just about every category that measures performances (dude has an ERA/xERA split of 7.95/6.73) are further warning signs that final two weeks may not be the great send-off he's hoping for. He’s pure fade material. 

Freddy Peralta (RHP - MIL) is pitching at a Cy-Young level across the second half of the season. Five of his last 11 starts have resulted in pure dominance while the other starts were terrific. In the second half Peralta has put up electric skills (2.71 xERA, 13.2 K’s/9). His second half improvement has come with greatly improved results versus right-handed batters, holding them to a .127 BA and .459 OPS. Peralta entered 2023 with valid injury concerns/risk but he’s put that to rest. His velocity has soared to new heights while his swing and miss rate is an off-the-charts 20% in the second half. Dude is dealing it and the team he pitches for is one of the hottest teams in the majors.
