Pittsburgh +136 over Baltimore

7:05 PM EST. Johan Oviedo (RHP - PIT) has been one of the early surprises of the 2023 season. He has gone from average skills last year to very good skills so far this year. Oviedo has a BB/K split of 15/33 in 37 frames but his swing and miss rate is rising with each start and is now up to a near elite 14%. He also has a strong groundball lean of 52%. As a pooch in this range, he’s worth a look here.

Kyle Bradish (RHP - BAL) threw 117.2 innings with a 4.90 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 21.8% K%, and 9% BB% last season. After two quality starts in the first half, Bradish threw four in the second half. This year he has made five starts covering just 20 innings in which he has struck out 18 and walked 9 to go along with his xERA of 4.55. Bradish was knocked around last year before a June shoulder strain cost him six weeks, then halved his ERA over last 13 starts. Dual 10-point hit%/strand% swings were the difference, as 1st/2nd half MLB xERA (4.19/3.86), K% (22%/22%), and BB (8%/9%) were near-mirror images. He'll be effective, but 2023 just doesn't have breakout vibes. As an underdog, intriguing, yes but as the chalk in this range, Bradish's with just one effective pitch (slider). We don’t recommend over-investing here.
