NHL Playoff Series Game 3

Series Tied 1-1

7:00 PM EST. Montreal returns to Bell Centre with all the momentum in this series after a dominant offensive response in Game 2, and this feels like a prime spot for the Canadiens to take control. The Habs generated quality scoring chances all night in the last meeting and finally saw the puck start going in after some frustrating stretches earlier in the series. Nick Suzuki continues to drive the attack with elite playmaking, Juraj Slafkovsky has become a dangerous net-front scorer, and Lane Hutson’s ability to push the pace from the blue line has completely changed Montreal’s transition game. The Canadiens have now won seven of the last 10 meetings against Buffalo, and they’ve consistently looked faster and more aggressive whenever these teams trade chances at even strength.

The biggest edge for Montreal right now is how well it’s defending while still creating pressure offensively. The Canadiens are allowing barely over two goals per game this postseason, and much of that success starts with their ability to clog the middle of the ice and force opponents into low-quality perimeter shots. Jakub Dobes has also been steady in goal, posting a save percentage north of .900 while giving Montreal confidence in tight situations. Buffalo has offensive skill, but the Sabres continue to struggle when forced into structured road playoff hockey where space disappears and special teams become magnified. Montreal’s penalty kill has quietly been one of the better units in the league all season, and that becomes even more valuable in a home playoff environment where momentum swings quickly.

Bell Centre should be a major factor in this game. Montreal feeds off that crowd energy better than almost any young team left in the playoffs, and the Canadiens have shown all season they can bury opponents once they gain confidence offensively. Buffalo’s defensive inconsistencies remain a concern, especially on the road where the Sabres have had trouble handling heavy forechecking teams. Montreal already proved in Game 2 it can dictate pace and control long stretches territorially, and if the Canadiens grab an early lead, this building can become overwhelming fast. With the Habs playing their best hockey of the series and Buffalo struggling historically in this building, laying the puck line with Montreal offers strong value in a matchup that could get away from the Sabres late. Let’s have a big cash on this one tonight.
