Ottawa +210 over Carolina

9:00 PM ET. OT included. The Avalanche were nearly invincible for two months, but cracks have finally shown. Back-to-back regulation losses, their first real losing streak of the season, and now they return home short-handed. Gabriel Landeskog is out. Devon Toews is out. Mackenzie Blackwood is on injured reserve. That’s your captain, your top defensive stabilizer, and your goaltender — all missing at once. This is not the same Avalanche machine the market is still pricing.

Colorado is 17-0-2 at Ball Arena and riding a gaudy home streak, but streaks don’t last forever — especially when the lineup starts thinning. The Avs are still dangerous up front with Nathan MacKinnon doing MVP things, but the margin for error has shrunk dramatically. Defensive depth is being tested, and fatigue is real after a rough Florida swing where they simply didn’t close games they normally finish. The market is still charging peak Colorado prices for a team that is suddenly mortal.

Ottawa, meanwhile, is being priced like a throwaway because of optics — a back-to-back, a road loss in Utah, and uncertainty in goal with Linus Ullmark away. That’s already baked into the number. What isn’t baked in is that this Senators group can skate, can score, and doesn’t need to dominate possession to stay competitive. Tim Stützle, Drake Batherson, Dylan Cozens — this lineup can trade punches, and against a depleted Colorado blue line, they’ll get looks. Ottawa has also shown they can rally defensively when expectations are low, which is exactly the profile we want at this price. Colorado is still being treated like a flawless home juggernaut, while Ottawa is being dismissed outright. That disconnect creates opportunity at a grossly inflated price.
