Calgary, meanwhile, drops a lopsided third period in Seattle and suddenly we’re supposed to believe the Flames are dead money. That’s how value is born in this league — one team getting priced off vibes, the other off a bad 20 minutes.

Let’s zoom out. Calgary’s season hasn’t been pretty, but they’ve already shown they can stabilize and climb when written off. That six-week stretch back to .500 didn’t happen by accident, and the underlying structure hasn’t vanished overnight. The Flames didn’t get blown out wire-to-wire in Seattle; they unraveled late.

Montreal deserves credit for competing, but they’re living on thin margins and timely finishing. Those are great when they hold, brutal when they don’t. This is a classic sell-high / buy-low spot: the Canadiens priced like a sure thing at home, the Flames priced like they’re still buried in November. We’re betting the correction, not the headlines.
