Vegas -½ +120 over Minnesota

10:07 PM EST. The Golden Knights are 2-1 since the All-Star break, where they ended the Oilers winning streak at 16 games before Edmonton could enter the record books, and they put away the Coyotes on Friday night in Arizona, 3-2. The Golden Knights are a quality outfit, as they have won for of their last five going back to before the break, and entering tonight, they rank eighth in the power rankings. However, the defending Stanley Cup champions are not the reason we are here tonight, as we have unfinished business, in a case of “sticking with it.”

We faded the Wild on Friday in their 3-2 win over the Penguins on “Marc Andre Fleury Night, in which Minnesota honored “The Flower” for his 1000th win and a career that spans two decades, with Fleury being the only holdover other then Brent Burns to have played in the NHL before the 2005-06 lockout in which the league sacrificed an entire season in a labor dispute. We’re not going to take anything away from Fleury or the Wild on an emotional night against his former team, but we will point out that it was a hard-fought game that was every bit as intense as it was meaningful.

We don’t know for sure just how hard the Wild celebrated the Fleury’s accomplishments and the win, but do know that they had a weekend off in Vegas, which was the sports, entertainment, and party hub of the universe with the Super Bowl and all of the pomp and circumstance that comes with that. It’s hard enough not to be distracted in Vegas at the best of times, and we’ve seen time and again teams coming out flat in games in which they were given time to take in all that Sin City has to offer either before or after a game with the Knights. Even if the Wild behaved themselves, the Golden Knights were superior in every way and should be spotting a bigger price against this toothless invader.
