There are many moving parts here, and one of them is “sticking with it,” as we backed the Canucks in their 4-0 loss to Boston on Thursday night, and there is no sugarcoating just how flat Vancouver was in that game. The Canucks posted just four shots in the first period, and it didn’t get much better from there. One of the hardest things to do when wagering on these games is to come back on a team that looks as bad as Vancouver did on Thursday night, but that is precisely the point.

Rare is the night the Canucks don’t show up to the office, and there is no way that poor effort in Boston is going to sit well with them. Head coach Rick Tocchet said after the game, "It's our first (regulation) loss in a while, so if you're going to lose, I guess you're going to throw a dud. That was a dud… It's obviously a learning lesson."

Meanwhile, the Red Wings are returning from their bye and the All-Star break, and so they have not played a game since January 31, which was a 3-2 overtime loss to Ottawa. We’ve seen teams come out flat from the break, and we are hoping to catch the Red Wings in such a situation this afternoon. A breakdown of X’s and O’s is not necessary here, but we will point out that before the break, the Red Wings played themselves into 17th place in the power rankings. The Canucks are a top-10 (seventh) side that comes into this game with a bad taste in their mouths. Another poor effort from the Canucks is very unlikely here. Regardless, Vancouver is underpriced on the road and there is great value to be had on them in this spot. The price and the situation dictate the play here and they present us with a tremendous opportunity to profit, which we aren’t going to miss it.
