Detroit -½ +125 over Vegas

8:07 PM EST. Regulation only. This one is going to be short and sweet, as the price posted here tells us everything we need to know about this game. On the surface, Vegas, a team that has points in six straight games, and oh, by the way, are the Stanley Cup champions, being an underdog in Detroit City stands out like a sore thumb. That said, the Red Wings have been playing some good hockey of late, winning eight of their last 11 games, including “good” wins over Florida, Toronto, and Los Angeles (twice).

There is a reason the oddsmakers have priced the Red Wings as the favorites in a game they seemingly figure to be overmatched in every conceivable way, and we are determined to break those reasons down for you here. First, the Golden Knights played just last night in New York against the Rangers in a game that Vegas won, although it had no business doing so, as the Rags outshot the Knights 38-to-20. It was the second game in a row that Vegas was badly outshot, as they also gave up 42 shots to 27 of their own in another "lucky" 3-2 win over the Islanders on Tuesday night on Long Island.

This is now the Golden Knights' last game of this four-game road trip, and their second set of back-to-backs this week. They’ll also return to Las Vegas tonight in advance of a 9-day break before playing the scorching Oilers in a Western Conference semi-finals rematch, and potential playoff preview. In short, the Golden Knights may not even get off the bus tonight, and if they do, it will be in body alone, as their minds will be on the team jet ready to take off for Sin City the second the final buzzer sounds. When the oddsmakers scream something at us, we listen.
