Calgary +115 over Toronto

7:07 PM EST. OT included. Simply put, the Maple Leafs cannot be favored on the road against the Flames. Toronto has lost four straight games and eight of their past 12 and that's not even the troubling part. Toronto's only wins over that span came against Anaheim, Los Angeles (in the midst of a horrible run) and San Jose, not once, but twice. That just might be the worst four-game winning streak in the past decade. Toronto now sits fourth in the Atlantic Division, one point behind the Red Wings for third and eight points behind the Panthers for second. If Detroit was in Calgary, they would be a big underdog andf if Florida was in Calgary, they would be an underdog too. In fact, Florida was in Calgary on December 18th and the Flames were favored (-114). That just points more to how overvalued the Leafs are.

The Maple Leafs remain one of the most overvalued teams in the league. Their chances of winning against good teams are 50/50 on their best night and that's because they cannot keep the opposition from scoring. The Leafs have weak goaltending and a weak group of defensmen and until that changes, they're going to remain very beatable. Calgary is an elite team that is nowhere near priced where they should be.

The Flames were flat against the Coyotes on Tuesday night, and yet, they were able to overcome a 2-0 deficit to tie the game in regulation and force overtime, where they would win that game. While we aren’t in the business of predicting such things, it’s very unlikely the Flames will be flat tonight. Not only was the situation against the ‘Yotes conducive to a slow start, but the weather was awful, and the crowd at the Saddledome was smaller than normal and not nearly as enthusiastic. That won’t be the case here, as the Leafs always draw well in the Stampede City, and the atmosphere will be far more electric than it was on Tuesday. The Leafs are an easy game to get up for, and with all the blue that will be in the crowd, the Flames will not lack motivation. Win, lose, or draw, the value to be had here on Calgary is tremendous. Wrong side favored,

Sherwood
