Arizona +135 over Calgary

9:00 PM EST. The Coyotes have little market credibility because they've been so bad for so long but they are no longer an easy out. The Coyotes are coming off a 6-0 win over Minnesota. They have recent wins over Boston and Colorado and they also had a recent stretch in which they won five out of six games. Arizona’s goalie, Connor Ingram, is among the league leaders in several key analytical categories including Goals Saved Above Average, thus, if the Coyotes aren’t sharp, dude can steal a game. However, we’re not relying on that, as this is an outstanding situational spot for the road team.

Calgary is very warm right now with three wins in a row and nine wins in its past 13 games. They were an underachieving team for the first two months of the year in terms of wins and losses but it’s not because they were playing poorly. Instead, it was inconsistent goaltending and a lot of bad luck but both have turned in Calgary’s favor. Now after three wins in a row capped off by a win in Vegas on Saturday night, the Flames return home for a 6-game homestand with a game tonight followed by a highly anticipated game with the Toronto Maple Leafs on deck on Thursday.

To recap, as Alberta dealt with a deep freeze, the Flames headed to the desert with their dads and mentors for two games. They ended up going two-for-two, following up their Thursday night win over Arizona in Tempe with a 3-1 triumph over the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday night. We have no idea if the Flames stayed in Vegas with their dad’s on Sunday but chances are GREAT that they did.

Calgary has been traveling extensively since New Year’s. They played on Jan 2nd, 4th, 6th and 7th in Minnesota, Nashville, Philadelphia and Chicago respectively before returning home for one lousy game against the Sens on January 9th. Then it was right back on the road again for those two aforementioned games in the desert on the annual dad’s trip. After eight games in 13 nights in which they traveled for all of them, Calgary comes home to play a team they just beat 6-2. It is virtually impossible to maintain high intensity for all 82 games, thus with no urgency and the Leafs on deck after the dad’s trip, expecting Calgary to take a breather here seems very reasonable. The Coyotes figure to be a live dog and we’re on it.
