Los Angeles -½ +115  over Arizona

9:07 PM EST. OT included. This game has been circled on our calendar for a couple of weeks, as we have been following the Coyotes on their five-game road trip that saw stops in St. Louis, Nashville, Dallas, Columbus, and Winnipeg. The 'Yotes would go 2-2-1 on that roadie, which most teams would take in a heartbeat, and through the first month and a half of the season, Arizona is 8-7-2.

While the results were more than fine on paper, a closer look at the Coyotes' play on that road trip was less than spectacular under the hood, as the Coyotes were chasing the puck in every game. Arizona was outshot 33-to-20 against the Blues, 42-to-25 against the Predators, 36-to-26 against the Stars, 41-to-32 against the Blue Jackets, and finally, 25-to-18 versus the Jets on Saturday night.

The Kings were once the hottest thing in the NHL, but the Canucks have taken that mantle for the moment, as L.A. has looked mortal across its last four games, going 2-1-1. The Kings would drop games to the Penguins (in overtime) and Philadelphia before bouncing back with wins over Florida and St. Louis. Although the results have been mixed of late, the Kings are arguably the most consistent 5-on-5 team in hockey. Not since an October 24th game against the Coyotes have the Kings been on the wrong side of the puck possession analytics, and if you don’t think one of their analytics coaches has reminded them of that, we’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn you should probably have a look at.

The Kings are elite, but they are not priced like that here. If the Avalanche are -165 in Nashville, Los Angeles should be similarly priced here. What would this line be if the Bruins, Golden Knights, or Rangers were in the Valley to face the ‘Yotes tonight? The situation is sweet, no doubt, but that the Kings are still underpriced and we are able to back them on the half-puck or 3-way line at a plus price is great value.
