Columbus +191 over Dallas

7:37 PM EST. OT included. We backed the Blue Jackets in their last game at Florida, which they lost in overtime, but we are not going to be deterred from coming right back on Columbus here in what we call "sticking with it." "Sticking with it" might be the hardest of the many wagering strategies we employ because when a team burns you or fails to cash a ticket for you, it can be very difficult to come right back on them. However, that’s precisely the point; it’s the wagers that are the hardest to make that often hold the most value.

The Jackets played a stinker in Florida, but they still scored four goals and forced overtime in that game. With that loss, Columbus has now won just one of its last seven games, so the Jackets' stock is still in the toilet, but better days are coming for a team that takes very few nights off. We’ll also note that there was a lot going on in that game with the Panthers, as the Jackets got a good long look at backup Spencer Martin, who came in cold off the bench to make 34 straight saves before allowing the tying goal with less than a minute to play. Martin has quickly become a nice asset for the Blue Jackets since they claimed him off waivers from Vancouver in the preseason. In five appearances, including three starts, Martin is 1-2-1 with a 2.62 goals-against average and .928 save percentage. The Jackets have not named a starter for tonight, but we don’t mind if it’s Elvis Merzlikins or Martin.

The Stars are back on the road after a one-off home game with Boston on Monday night, as they’ll play tonight in Columbus, Saturday in Winnipeg, and Sunday in Minnesota after they played three straight in Western Canada (Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary) last week. That’s a ton of miles logged, and one has to wonder if those miles are catching up with Dallas. The Stars were outshot in those games out West 124-to-84, before outshooting the Bruins on Monday in a game the Stars played well in. The question is, how much does Dallas have left in the tank for lowly Columbus, after throwing the kitchen sink at the B’s and with back-to-back division games on deck? The price and the situation present us with tremendous value here on the Blue Jackets, and we’re not backing down.
