Vegas -½ +136 over Dallas

8:30 PM EST. OT included. Stars' head coach Peter DeBoer returns to the scene of the crime: Las Vegas, where he was fired after leading the Golden Knights to the Stanley Cup final in their inaugural season. Nearly one year after his firing, DeBoer brings his Stars to Sin City for Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. As fans of the English language, we can appreciate the irony of the luckiest team in this league having to go to Las Vegas to reach the Stanley Cup final.

We feel like a broken record as we preach again that the Stars have been the luckiest team in the league all season and throughout these playoffs, with their Game 7 overtime win being the icing on that cake. Now, they are going to meet their maker in the form of a team that is loaded line for line and does not quit. For the record, that would be the third time the Stars have drawn a tough opponent, but we are not talking about the Wild or Wild Card teams. We are talking about the #1 seed in the West and a club that has been the hottest team in the league for five months.

What does Vegas have to do to get some respect in this market? The Knights made quick work of the Jets in Round 1 and then sent Connor McDavid and the Oilers home. We saw value in the Golden Knights last round against the Oilers, as they were an underdog in every game. With the Stars now the target, the Knights are finally favored at home, but they are still underpriced. We're not going to let up on fading Dallas now. The Knights hold all the value here as the chalk.
