Montreal +139 over St. Louis

7:07 PM EST. OT included. Look, we’re not going to sugarcoat the ills of the Canadiens, as they’ve lost seven straight games. The Habs have also allowed 26 goals against in their last four games. We have to wonder why the oddsmakers posted such a small takeback on the Habs. Toronto is a -350 favorite v Detroit today. Carolina is -280 in Columbus. The worst teams in this league are regularly taking back 2-1 or better and we promise you that Montreal is considered one of the worst teams. There is not a team in the NHL that is in worse form right now than Montreal and that includes the Ducks, Blackhawks and Coyotes and yet here we are with Montreal a small price at home against a team that just went on the road and beat the Maple Leafs and Devils, while racking up points in 10 of their last 12 games. Smells a little off.

The Blues beat the Devils and Leafs without Vladimir Tarasenko and center Ryan O'Reilly, who are both out again tonight. A close look reveals that St. Louis has allowed five goals or more in five of its last seven games. A closer look shows that St. Louis’ goaltending is so bad that it’s just as capable of losing six in a row against anyone as it is of winning a few in a row. We don’t know what is going to transpire in this game but every time the Blues have taken a step forward this year, they have subsequently taken two steps backwards. This line reeks of something sinister and it is for that reason that we’re going to side with the Habs, who oddsmakers are taking a position on here.
