New Jersey -½ +144 over Vancouver

10:08 PM EST. Regulation only. The Canucks finally got off the schneid when they got past the Kraken last Thursday. Vancouver parlayed that win into another, as it beat Pittsburgh, 5-1, at home on Friday night. We all knew that Vancouver wasn't as bad as their winless start (7 games) but in such a luck driven sport, it's not uncommon to see decent teams drop a bunch in a row. Now that Vancouver has lifted that weight, they can focus again on just playing hockey and not the Canadian media that loses its mind when a team loses a few games.

New Jersey has been playing well all season. They have given up the fourth-fewest shots in the league at 5-on-5, while also giving up just 23 goals in nine games. That’s remarkable if you watched the Devils play because they have not been getting good goaltending (second worst save percentage 5-on-5). When they do, watch the f**k out.

The Devils are elite, but they are not priced as such. After a slow start, despite playing damn good hockey, New Jersey has now won three straight games and are second behind Carolina in the Metro Division. Vancouver played Carolina at home back on October 24th and were a +144 pooch if you needed any more proof the Devils are not getting their due. Even the Devils fourth line is creating havoc.

We look at today's games and see Vegas -165 on the road at Washington and the Islanders -200 at Chicago. That the Devils are nowhere near priced in that same range reveals that the market is not yet aware of just how strong teh Devils are. Do yourself a favor and bet the Devils in some futures because they're priced in the same range as teams like teh Caps, Kings, Jets and Sabres and it's absurd. The Devils are true Cup contenders this year so keep firing bullets their way until the market catches up.
