N.Y. Giants -3½ +100 over N.Y. Jets

7:30 PM EST. We are going back to the Giants in the preseason finale, laying the points on the road against the Jets. This is not a game where we are interested in making too much of the quarterback names at the top of the depth chart. The real handicap comes later in the game, when the younger players and reserves take over, and that is where we believe the Giants has the better overall structure.

The Giants have done a good job throughout the preseason of playing disciplined football, and that is particularly important in a final exhibition game. Their veteran quarterback depth gives the coaching staff some stability once the starters leave, while the rest of the roster has already had plenty of opportunity to operate within the system. We expect that experience to show up as this game progresses, especially in the second half when preseason games are often decided by execution rather than talent.

We also like the spot for the Giants because there is no reason for us to overreact to what the Jets have accomplished in their previous exhibition. New York's defense has been playing with plenty of confidence, and the Giants should be capable of making the Jets work for everything offensively. A competitive first half followed by better execution from the Giants' reserves is the type of game script we are looking for.

The oddsmakers are asking us to lay only a small number, and we think that is a reasonable price for the side with the more dependable overall setup. We are not trying to predict a runaway victory, just enough separation to get across the number.
