8:15 PM ET. The Chargers rolled the Raiders twice last season, covering both, and now they stroll into Vegas fresh off a primetime win over Kansas City in Brazil. The market has bought every bit of that hype. Justin Herbert outdueling Patrick Mahomes makes headlines, but one week doesn’t erase the lingering issues with this L.A. roster.

Remember, Rashawn Slater tore his patellar tendon in camp after signing a $114M extension. That leaves rookie Joe Alt on Herbert’s blindside, and while he held up in Week 1, the grind of a season is a different animal. The Bolts still have a patchwork offensive line and depth that can be exposed.

Las Vegas is not without flaws, but they showed a clear identity in Foxborough. Geno Smith threw for 362 yards, Brock Bowers ripped off 100+ before leaving hurt, and Jakobi Meyers remains a reliable chain-mover. The Raiders didn’t force-feed rookie RB Ashton Jeanty just because of draft capital. They leaned into what works — Geno spreading the ball to playmakers. That’s the right blueprint, especially against a Charger defense that remains shaky at linebacker and in the secondary.

Add in the Carroll–Harbaugh subplot, and you have a Raiders sideline that won’t be intimidated. Pete Carroll has no fond memories of his old rival and would love nothing more than to spoil his Monday night. Meanwhile, Herbert and the Chargers are being priced like perennial contenders. They’re not. With Herbert as the starter, L.A. is just 26-16 ATS on the road — respectable, but not dominant, and often inflated when the market tilts their way.
