Tennessee Tech +135 over Western Kentucky

3:00 PM EST. Tobin Anderson has been in Cookeville for about five minutes and he has already turned the Golden Eagles into a travelling miss-hap with a home address. This is the coach who marched a 16 seed into the tournament and beat Purdue, and his fingerprints are all over this senior heavy roster: they press, they run, they crash the glass in waves, and they do it with grown men. It is the 105th meeting between these two, the place will be heaving for the new era's first real test, and Anderson's teams have gone 165-53 at home across his career. Home court under this man is not a theory, it is a habit.

The offense is not some NAIA mirage either. Yes, Tech Hung 117 on Blue Mountain on Wednesday, seven men in double figures, 23 forced turnovers cashed into 37 points, a 45-20 edge on fast breaks and 30 offensive rebounds, with De'Ante Green posting 23 and 12 after hanging 19 and 10 by halftime. But the receipt that matters came first: 88 points at Mississippi State, in Starkville, against an SEC front line, with Caleb Sanders going for a career high 28 and point guard Ty Owens dealing eight assists. Sanders leads them at 20 a game, Green owns the paint, and the rotation runs nine and ten deep without a freshman having to save anybody. Tech averages 102.5 points a night because the pace never lets the other team breathe.

Western Kentucky's 2-0, meanwhile, was built entirely inside its own building against teams that cannot score, Morehead State and a Division II school, and today is the Tops' first road game of the season. Their whole offence runs through one man, Teagan Moore, who is scoring 21.5 of their 82.5 points a night, and Anderson's pressure exists for exactly this situation: ninety feet of heat designed to make a single creator drown by the second half. Sharron Young and Armelo Boone have never had to run an offence against this kind of harassment in a building this loud, and when the turnovers start coming, Cookeville turns into a layup line the other way. WKU's pretty defensive numbers were compiled against attacks that could not punish a press. Tech's attack does nothing else.

The market opened Western Kentucky -3.5 and has been creeping toward Tech all weekend because the Starkville tape keeps making the rounds. You are getting paid plus money for the home team in a track meet it gets to dictate, with the older roster, the deeper bench and a coach who treats home games like property.
