9:00 PM ET. Check most forums today and you will see that the Irish are rapidly becoming the most popular underdog on the board. That’s a huge warning sign that the home chalk may actually be undervalued here. Any time the public rushes to scoff up points that look irresistible, it’s worth pausing and asking why the line still sits where it does. That’s the tell here.

A breaking down of X’s and O’s isn’t necessary here. But here is one thing that we will tell you. Stanford is nine points in total from being undefeated this season but no one is talking about that one. Instead, they are talking about who Stanford has played and who they lost to – UNLV and Seattle. Both mid-majors. Notre Dame even in college hooping is garnered as a big name. So naturally, catching points with the Irish looks like a piece of pie.

The Cardinal also aren’t flashy, and they’ve had stretches this season where the results haven’t been overly persuasive. We get it. When you dig past the optics, though, Stanford grades out as the sturdier side — particularly on their home floor. Put the Irish in an away spot where they haven’t endured much of the tumult of the road so far this season and the plot gets clearer. Notre Dame’s offensive has a tendency to run hot and cold. When the rhythm dries up, it doesn’t just slow — it stalls. Those scoring droughts are exactly the type of stretches where Stanford’s faithful can be dialled in and the basketball team itself can create separation.

And that brings us back to the number. If Notre Dame truly deserved the benefit of the doubt here, the line would be tighter — especially given how aggressively the market is getting behind the Irish. Instead, the books are content to welcome Notre Dame money while keeping Stanford firmly positioned as a multi-possession favorite. That’s rarely accidental. Lay the points.
