Furman +145 ML over High Point (Neutral Site Match-Up) Field of 68 Opening Day Marathon Rock Hill Events and Sports Center – Rock Hill, SC

6:30 PM The storyline here is one of overachievement versus redemption. High Point’s 2024–25 campaign was a dream run by every measure. The Panthers didn’t just meet expectations—they shattered them. After years searching for a breakthrough, HPU finally reached the summit, capturing its first Big South crown and dancing in March for the first time in program history. They didn’t back into it either; High Point bulldozed through February and March, then drew national eyes as they stood opposite Purdue, the prior year’s national runner-up. That type of ride doesn’t fade quickly in the market consciousness.

Meanwhile, Furman’s season was the opposite arc. The Paladins battled through the Southern Conference bracket and stunned top-seed Chattanooga en route to the final…only to fall short against rival Wofford. That disappointment carried into the NIT, where Furman showed up physically but never in spirit. Thus, the Paladins never truly competed against North Texas. What was a promising late-season push ended with a thud, and the market tends to punish results like that.

As a result, High Point gets the market glow and bettor appetite remains high. But a new season levels everything. High Point goes from hunter to hunted, and laying points in a neutral-site season opener—at the Group of 68 Opening Day Marathon no less—is a very different challenge than charging through conference gyms as the rising darling. Furman, playing this one in its home state, enters with something to prove and a fresh reset.

The Paladins have been a staple contender in the SoCon, they play disciplined basketball, and they’ve been in enough March-or-bust environments to embrace this stage rather than shrink from it. High Point earned its shine, but now comes the pressure. Early season neutral floors reward stability and hunger—not hype from last season. Paladins outright.
