Bryant +130 over Vermont

4:00 PM EST. While the three points being offered are nice, we much prefer to take the home team on the money line because the value is so good.

You see, Vermont’s stock is skyrocketing again. The Catamounts are now back in first in the American East with a 5-0 conference record and an overall record of 15-5. Vermont has won six straight and have also covered in three straight games. Furthermore, Vermont has reeled off 20 (!) conference games in a row, which in turn has the market very reluctant to bet against them. In fact, this line opened with Vermont being a one-point choice but the inefficient market has stepped in and driven the price up to +3 (at the time of this writing).

Bryant is also 5-0 but they’re 13-7 overall and do not share the same pedigree as the favorite. However, Bryant is every bit as good as Vermont and perhaps even better. The Bulldogs of Bryant played the 90th ranked non-conference Strength of Schedule (SOS) in the country while Vermont’s SOS ranked 143rd. Bryant beat then #10 Florida Atlantic and they also gave Rutgers a scare. They’re strong defensively and they’re sharp offensively too. This is a well-balanced, well-coached team that should not be an underdog on their home court here.

Situationally speaking, give a massive edge to Bryant because Vermont is playing its second consecutive road game in less than 48 hours against the best two teams in the conference. Additionally, the game versus Lowell was an OT win less than 48 hours ago. Bryant is the undervalued, up and coming program while Vermont is not as good as their record suggests.
