Kansas State +135 over Kentucky

2:40 PM EST. Kentucky is a college hoops blue blood and one of the more recognizable programs still left in this tournament after fellow blue blood Duke was bounced yesterday afternoon. Without getting too far into the weeds, head coach John Calipari has become the poster boy for those "one and done" players who are forced into one season of college ball before heading to the NBA Draft. That strategy comes with its pitfalls, as talent can only take a team so far in this tournament. It's why we see upsets all the time.

Until its win over Providence in Round 1, Calipari's Wildcats had not won an NCAA Tournament game in four years. Even if you count the year the NCAAs were canceled due to COVID, it’s a putrid run. Time heals all wounds, and a win does much for one's standing in the market, which has the memory of a goldfish.

Kentucky will not send the best group of Wildcats onto the floor today, as that distinction will be held by Jerome Tang’s outfit from Kansas State. What we love about Tang is that he’s got a memory like an elephant and never backs down from the chance to punch up. He was with Baylor back when Kentucky was on its amazing 55-game home winning streak back in 2012. Tang was an assistant at Baylor at the time and brought up that win in advance of this game. The dude has swag. Gotta love it.

The discrepancy in market perception for these two groups of Wildcats is already enough to present us with some nice value here, but when you consider that Kansas State is ranked higher at KenPom and that the efficient market is pounding Kentucky today, that value becomes tremendous on Kansas State and we are not going to pass it up.
