Arizona -14½ over Princeton

Thursday, 4:10 PM EST. Princeton has been to this event many times over the decades and they have had great success too. They have pulled off more than a few upsets and have also busted brackets. Point being, they have tournament pedigree. To the unsuspecting, this is going to look like a whole lot of points. It’s not. Arizona is a threat to win this event while the Tigers were not even the best team in the Ivy League during the regular season.

Don’t confuse these Tigers with the back-door cutting Pete Carril teams of old. The principles remain but they don’t play super slow. They’ve scored at least 74 points in each of their last three wins and have allowed 87.7 points per game in their last three losses. When teams like Dartmouth, Columbia and Cornell are hanging 80 points on you, a team like Arizona could go off for 110. The Tigers play directly through 6-foot-8 Tosan Evbuomwan, which sets up poorly against ‘Zona’s bigs in 6-foot-11 Azuolas Tubelis and 7-foot Oumar Ballo. It’s going to force Princeton to be one-dimensional offensively. They’ll need outside shots to fall and won’t get (m)any second opportunities. Arizona ranks fourth offensively, and third in effective field goal percentage and should absolutely bury this bunch.
