Penn +105 over Princeton

1:30 PM EST. The big Tiger in the room here is that Princeton will play host to this Ivy League semi-final, as it hosts the conference tournament for the very first time. With that comes great expectations, Princeton has not lost a game on this floor to anyone other than Yale in three seasons. That includes the Tigers 77-69 win over Penn last Saturday. In that game, the Tigers were just a 2-point favorite but would cover that number for their second straight trip to the pay window. It was the second time Princeton knocked off the Quakers after beating Penn at Penn in mid-January, 72-60. Princeton was a 1-point favorite in that game. It is worth noting that the Quakers led by as many as 19 points, but let that lead evaporate in an overtime loss.

Princeton is the #2 seed here, and it is coming off a tidy 19-8 season (10-4 in Ivy League play), but forgive us if we cannot get excited about the Tigers. They played a weak non-conference schedule that ranked 307-of-363 ranked schools. By contrast, the #3 seeded Quakers finished 17-12 (9-5 in the Ivy), but Penn played a much tougher non-conference schedule (183).

Penn comes into this game on the heels of that eight point loss to the Tigers on this very court. Losing that game and having to come right back to Jersey puts a target on the Quakers back, however, we do not see it that way at all. This is a business trip for Penn, meanwhile, Princeton must play the host, which comes with the weight of the entire gym on the Tigers shoulders. Over 3000 tickets have been sold for this game but what sticks out most to us is the short and enticing price that books have posted on the favorite that has lost to one team here in three years. Reading between the line tells us that Princeton is fool’s gold.
