Arizona -105 over UCLA

10:30 PM EST. The Bruins are the #2 ranked team in the nation, they are going to be a #1 or #2 seed in the NCAA Tournament, and they made a statement yesterday in that 75-56 frog stomping of Oregon as a 5-point favorite. As impressive as that win was, the Ducks were in that game until the last 10 minutes or so, when they went ice cold. The Bruins were hot and pulled away. UCLA won and covered in its opening game against Colorado, 80-69, as a 9-point favorite. That’s now 12 straight wins with trips to the pay window in nine of those games (9-2-1). That includes a nine-point win at Arizona to close out the regular season as a 5½-point favorite.

Recency bias looms large here with the Wildcats not only losing to the Bruins down the stretch but also losing to rivals Arizona State and lowly Stanford. Losing to the Cardinal by nine as 7½-point chalk and ASU as a 12½-point favorite is not a good look.

Depending on how the day goes for the market in Vegas, this 10:30 PM tipoff could be the “bailout” game for many. If you are unfamiliar with that term, the “bailout” game is the one that the masses will pile on at the end of the day to make up for their losses. UCLA is an institution in college hoops, and the Bruins are a very popular team in Vegas because of their proximity to Sin City. We are very mindful of that, and so are the oddsmakers. It is with that in mind that we are not interested in the X's and O's. When a game attracts one-sided action, as this one surely will, it piques our interest. When something looks too good to be true, we have to question it the same we would question a Hank Aaron rookie card for sale on Craigslist for $200. Buyer beware is the mantra here.
