UNC Wilmington +9½ over Charleston

5:00 PM EST. The Cougars of Charleston, with a record of 30-3, are the mid-major March Madness flavor of the month. We hate to pick on the "little guy," but it's hard not to see right through what coach Pat Kelsey was doing when he lined up a smorgasbord of cupcakes for his players to run through, with a weak non-conference schedule that ranks just 229th of 363 ranked programs.

This is an absurd pile of points for the Seahawks to be taking back on a neutral court against anyone in the Colonial. UNC Wilmington played a tough non-conference schedule that ranked 72nd in the nation. However, once conference play begins, those tough games played beforehand are often forgotten. In Colonial play, Wilmington lost twice to Charleston, with their most recent meeting being a 32-point blowout loss, which is the only game anyone is really talking about in the lead-up to this one tonight.

Recency bias matters, and market perception matters. Those two factors have combined to create a scenario where a damn good Seahawks team is taking back a significant pile of points. We aren't going to break down X's and O's or try to predict which one of these sides is going to be the hotter shooting team, but we are going to back a very good Wilmington team that is being totally disrespected here. The Seahawks are not dregs. They can win this game and we therefore must grab these inflated points and see where the chips fall.
