11:00 PM EST. The Cougars have won just three road games this season, yet they are favored here on the road in a rivalry game against a Huskies team that is 12-5 on their home court. How can that be? The Cougars have only cashed tickets in three of their last seven games, including their failure to cover double-digits at Cal in a 63-57 win on Saturday. The Cougs also failed to cover when they played the Huskies in Pullman three weeks ago.

With this being the last home game for the Huskies, there are a number of distractions that Washington will be dealing with that Wazzu will not. There’s the pomp and circumstance that comes with a game like this, as well as seeing the seniors off the floor for the final time. The Huskies have two seniors in their starting lineup (Cole Bajema and Jamal Bey), but the team has five other seniors on the roster.

While it’s tempting to take the underdog on its home court in a rivalry game, the prudent play here is to back Wazzu, who is able to treat this game just like another. All the Cougars have to do is get off the bus, ball, get on the bus, and go home. No emotions or reflections. Handshakes or hugs. This is strictly a business trip for the Cougs, who have nothing to lose. That makes them very dangerous and on top of all that, they're the better team despite what the records say. Washington State has had a ton of close defeats this season, including tight losses at home to both UCLA and Arizona, the two best teams in the conference. They had final possession losses to Utah and Colorado. The Cougars have attempted more 3s than anyone in the Pac-12 and are second in efficiency from deep. Washington State won at Arizona in January. It’s beaten Oregon, Arizona State and USC, too but the market loves wins more than anything else and it is for that reason that the Cougars are the bargain of the day.
