BYU just dropped an 83-76 decision to Santa Clara, but that loss looks worse than it actually is just based on the Broncos having little to no market presence despite having a pretty good season that has them ranked in the top-100 (84th). By contrast, the Dons are ranked 106th, while the Cougars are 81st. All of that to say, if BYU was a 2½-point pooch at Pacific, should the Cougs not be the chalk here?

The Dons were able to turn back the clock, for at least one night, as they waffled Pacific, 78-57, last time out. That win over the overmatched Tigers was the rare one of late, as the Dons had dropped five of their six games prior to that 21-point win. The transition from Todd Golden to Chris Gerlufsen has not been a smooth one in San Francisco, which presents an opportunity for us to take advantage of the situation when the Dons are both outmatched on the court and on the sidelines. Cougs get the call.
