Oklahoma City -6½ -110 over San Antonio

Play off Series game 2

8:30 PM EST. San Antonio Leads Series 1-0The Thunder opened this series spotting 6½ points in Game 1 and got burned. San Antonio walked into Oklahoma City, led for long stretches, survived a furious comeback, and then showed tremendous poise by winning in double overtime. The Spurs deserve all the credit in the world. They stole home-court advantage and suddenly look like the team nobody wants to play. Which brings us to tonight.

Victor Wembanyama's 41-point, 24-rebound masterpiece has dominated every sports show, highlight package, podcast and social media feed over the last 24 hours. If you watched that game, it's almost impossible not to come away impressed. The guy is a phenomenon. In fact, if Wembanyama wore a Lakers, Knicks or Celtics jersey, he'd probably be the biggest star in sports right now.

The public watched him put on a historic performance and now they're being offered 6½ points with his team. That sounds pretty appealing. Too appealing. The oddsmakers saw the same game we did. They know exactly what the public reaction is going to be. They know recreational bettors watched Wembanyama dominate, watched San Antonio win outright and are now being handed more than two possessions with the Spurs.

That's the side everyone wants. Yet the number hasn't moved. That's the story. If bookmakers were afraid of Oklahoma City, this line would be lower. If they were concerned about balancing action, they had every opportunity to shade the number toward San Antonio. Instead, they're hanging the same number they hung before the Spurs won Game 1.
That tells us plenty.

This isn't about dismissing San Antonio's performance. They were excellent. It's about understanding how quickly perception changes in the playoffs. One game creates a narrative, the betting public chases that narrative, and value often emerges on the other side. The market has fallen in love with San Antonio after one win. We'll gladly step in front of that enthusiasm and back the Thunder to respond on their home floor.
