That defensive consistency has been the foundation of OKC’s dominance all season. The Thunder finished near the top of the league in opponent field-goal percentage and points allowed, and they’ve now won 12 of their last 14 games while continuing to cover numbers at home.

The matchup problems for Los Angeles are becoming impossible to ignore. Oklahoma City’s athleticism and depth have overwhelmed the Lakers throughout the season series, and the results haven’t been particularly competitive. The Thunder have now won six straight meetings against Los Angeles, with an average margin north of 20 points during that stretch. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to dictate every aspect of the game offensively, while Chet Holmgren gives OKC a massive advantage defensively around the rim and on the glass. When the Thunder are knocking down perimeter shots at their usual rate, they become extremely difficult to trade baskets with over four quarters.

Oklahoma City has been one of the best home teams in basketball and continues to thrive in these pace-and-pressure situations where turnovers quickly turn into transition points. The Lakers simply haven’t shown they can consistently handle OKC’s defensive intensity, and once the Thunder build momentum, they tend to bury teams quickly. Expect another fast start from Oklahoma City, with their defense creating separation early and their offensive efficiency carrying them comfortably past the spread.
