Detroit -8½ -110 over Orlando

NBA Playoff Series Game 2

7:00 PM EST. Game 1 didn’t just go sideways for the Detroit Pistons—it exposed exactly why this is a prime bounce-back spot. Detroit’s identity all season has been built on elite defense, forcing turnovers at a league-best rate and protecting the rim, but that cohesion simply wasn’t there after the layoff. Rotations were late, closeouts were soft, and Orlando got comfortable looks far too often. That’s not a talent issue—that’s timing. Expect a much sharper, more physical defensive effort in Game 2, especially back on their home floor where Detroit has consistently responded after losses.

Offensively, the Pistons don’t need hero ball—they need balance, and that’s where positive regression comes in. Cade Cunningham carried the load with 39 points, but the bigger story was how little help he got despite creating opportunities. Detroit shot just 40 percent from the field and a mediocre clip from three, numbers that don’t reflect the quality of looks they generated. If those open shots start falling—and history says they will—this offense looks completely different. More importantly, when Cunningham shifts from scorer to facilitator, Detroit becomes far more dangerous, and that’s typically when their wins turn into comfortable margins.

On the other side, the Orlando Magic played near their ceiling in Game 1, shooting efficiently and controlling stretches of the game, but that’s a tough formula to replicate on the road against an elite defensive team with urgency. Detroit has been dominant in bounce-back situations at home, and the broader playoff trends strongly favor teams in this exact position after dropping Game 1 as a sizable favorite. With expected defensive intensity returning, improved shooting from role players, and a more balanced offensive approach, the Pistons are set up to not only even the series—but do so convincingly. Laying the points with Detroit is the right side in Game 2.
