Charlotte +10½ over Philadelphia

7:10 PM EST. The Hornets are struggling with losses in six of eight games, including three in a row. The last two of those losses came to a very good Cleveland team, whom the Hornets went shot for shot with on Sunday night. Charlotte would cover that game as a 10-point underdog, so the oddsmakers adjusted the number for the next game, opening the line at 7½. However, the market took a stand and drove that number down to 5½ by tip-off. The Hornets lost by double digits, 120-104.

Meanwhile, the 76ers are rolling right now after winning seven of their last eight games, including six straight. Along the way, the Sixers have been kind to their backers as well, going 5-3 Against the Spread and cashing tickets in their last two games over Washington and Cleveland. Philadelphia was favored by seven against the Wizards and crushed them by 19. Against the Cavs, Philly was a 2½-point favorite and easily covered, beating Cleveland by nine.

The winning streak isn't the only big news out of Philly with regard to the Sixers, as there is talk of a new arena deal coming for them that would see them move to Market East from their home at the Wells Fargo Center in South Philly. If you have never been to the Market East area of Philly, it's a rough neighborhood that is in desperate need of revitalization.

The Sixers' plan is to make downtown their own because they are tired of living under the umbrella of Comcast Spectacor, who owns both that arena and the Flyers, who get first dibs on dates and who gets to use the building on their off nights. If the 76ers had their own arena, they would be the ones in charge of such things. As always, follow the money. The point of this story is that there was a vote held amongst those business owners, residents, and visitors of Chinatown who are overwhelmingly against the project (90%). Now, maybe it's nothing, but this arena mess could become a huge distraction for all involved. Regardless, the Sixers are spotting inflated points, with their stock high. The prudent play is to take those inflated points, especially after the Hornets burned the market last time out.
