10:10 PM EST. Do we like the Rockets? We do not, but it does not matter what we “like” or “think” or “feel”. This isn’t “Dr. Phil.” What we have here is strictly a situational play on the Kings, who we’ve been following closely, as they are often an undervalued side that plays late at night. We backed Sacramento in its last game, a 136-111 win over Orlando on Monday night, where the Kings were a -6½-point choice, but now it is time to switch gears.

The other night, we discussed how the narrative coming into the Kings/Magic game was that the Kings were giving up a ton of points. Well, guess what the story is tonight? The Kings are scoring a bunch of points. Funny, eh? Sacramento dropped 23 3-pointers, and the front page of the Sacramento Bee sports sections is about how Kings guard Kevin Huerter wants to be in the 3-Point contest. Not a mention of Houston coming to town for a back-to-back. You don’t think the Rockets are being overlooked?

The Kings have played nine of their last 11 games at home, including three straight, and they have two more before they finally can get the hell out of town. Normally, we’d be most interested in fading them on the last day of that stretch, but this is a unique situation. Not only has the run over home games over the last three weeks been extreme, but the Kings pull the lowly Rockets for a double shot at the Golden 1 Center before they can jettison for a modest, but surely needed five-day, two-game roadie to San Antonio and L.A. to play the Lakers. In the slog of the NBA season, that’s as close to a vacation as one can get. The Rockets are capable of winning this game outright, but the situation suggests there are inflated points to be snapped up. We’re not going to leave them on the table.
