4:10 PM EST. At first glance, this matchup appears to favor Arizona with Eduardo Rodriguez (LHP – ARI) bringing a sparkling 2.25 ERA into the game against Zack Littell (RHP – WSH) and his 6.00 ERA. That's exactly why we're getting right back on the Washington train tonight. Also why Washington is worth a second look. Baseball betting is often about perception versus reality, and the market is likely to overvalue Rodriguez's small-sample success while completely dismissing the Nationals because of Littell's inflated ERA. From our perspective, this is definitely a value play rather than a pitching play. The public will see Eduardo Rodriguez (LHP – ARI) and automatically gravitate toward Arizona, creating a potentially inflated number on the favorite. Meanwhile, Zack Littell (RHP – WSH) gives Washington a capable veteran presence on the mound and the Nationals continue to offer the type of underdog profile we look for: competitive lineup, low expectations, and a price that reflects perception more than probability. Arizona may deserve to be favored, but not enough to ignore the value attached to Washington. At the current number, the Nationals are worth another ride as a live road dog with upset potential.
