10:05 PM ET. Why are the A’s favored here? Texas has won three straight in the matchup and six of eight overall. They just scored 20 runs against the Angels. Shouldn’t they be the chalk? Not if you look closer.

That 20-3 outburst was an outlier. Even with it, Texas still sits 25th or worse in every major hitting category. They’re being asked to thrive in a projected slugfest (total near 11), but this is not a lineup built to trade blows. Oakland, on the other hand, has proved it can drag teams into firefights and punish weak bats for trying to keep pace.

If the Rangers truly had the edge, they’d be favored. The fact they aren’t is the story. The market is dangling Texas plus-money as bait, but the number speaks. This sets up for Oakland to win going away. We’ll spot the run and a half at a very playable tag.
