L.A. Angels +111 over Oakland

3:37 PM EST. Now that the Angels are playing for nothing and nobody gives a f**k, they’re starting to win some games. Today, they’ll send former Braves pitcher, Touki Toussaint (RHP - LAA) to make his first start in a new environment. A long-ago Top 100 prospect with plus stuff, the 26-year-old Toussaint has never been able to harness his control or contain the long-ball. He owns a career 5.46/4.34 ERA/xERA through 145 MLB innings over the past four years. Now he becomes a rotation depth piece for the Angels with a new lease on life. His swing and miss rate is strong (14.1%) and his groundball rate is elite at 53%. Even his hard-hit ball rate is elite and thus it all comes down to control. If Toussaint can throw strikes, he was the steal of the trade deadline, as the Halos picked him up for virtually nothing.

Meanwhile, things might be about to get ugly for Paul Blackburn (RHP - OAK). There's a significant gap between Blackburn's ERA and xERA, thanks to his hitting the trifecta of good fortune with hit%, strand%, and hr/f. He's due for some serious regression. But the regression may not even stop at that 4.76 xERA, because everything is in decline. Blackburn and the A’s are a weak favorite so we’ll roll the dice with Halos.
