Tyler Anderson inked a one-year, $8 million deal in March 2022 that didn’t get much attention, but it has proven to be a shrewd move on paper, as he owns a 3.00 ERA in 72 innings but regression is looming. Under the hood, Anderson has a very fortunate hit rate. His strand rate overall is pretty normal but it’s been extremely high in at least half his games. Tyler Anderson’s sudden success comes after years of mediocrity. He’s a 32 year-old starter with a heavy fly-ball tilt. That and his low velocity (90 MPH) make him susceptible to bouts of gopheritis. Also keep in mind that he’s faced a soft schedule to this point and there figures to be some pullback eventually, so look for his ERA to move closer to his 5.63 xERA going forward. Yeah, it’s tough to bet against the Dodgers but man is Tyler Anderson ever overpriced here.
