Saskatchewan -3½ over B.C.

6:30 PM ET. It’s going to be a classic prairie playoff night — cold, clear, and mean — the kind of weather that reveals which team is built for November football. Mosaic Stadium will be buzzing, and the Roughriders have all the ingredients to send Regina into another frenzy.

Saskatchewan took two of three from B.C. this season and averaged over 30 points in those wins. That’s not luck; it’s a product of Corey Mace’s structure. His Riders play with precision, they control tempo, and they punish mistakes. The Lions love to play fast and horizontal — motion, spacing, tempo — but that’s a lot harder to execute in sub-zero weather against a defensive front that lives in the backfield.

Malik Carney, Micah Johnson, and Mike Rose form the best pass-rush trio in the CFL, and they’ll spend the night chasing Nathan Rourke. The Lions’ offensive line has been excellent all season, but Mosaic’s surface is slower, and Saskatchewan’s edge speed is relentless. Rourke’s mobility gives him a chance, but it’s a fine line between extending plays and running for your life.

B.C. will try to stress Saskatchewan’s secondary with motion and crossing routes, but that unit doesn’t rattle. Tevaughn Campbell, Amari Henderson, and Rolan Milligan Jr. have been lights out in coverage, and Mace’s disguised looks make quarterbacks second-guess every read. That’s how turnovers happen, and that’s how Saskatchewan flips games in its favor.

The coaching matchup is fascinating — Corey Mace versus Buck Pierce, two bright minds with completely different philosophies. Mace preaches discipline, structure, and situational control; Pierce thrives on chaos and pace. The problem for B.C. is that chaos doesn’t translate well when it’s minus six with a slick ball and a loud crowd breathing down your neck.

Saskatchewan’s balance, defensive depth, and physical identity are built for this exact environment. The Lions are a dome team heading into a street fight. This has the makings of a grinder — the kind where the better defense and tougher team take control in the fourth quarter. That’s the Riders.
