Hamilton +110 over Montreal

7:30 PM EST. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats enter the season with legitimate Grey Cup aspirations and one of the most explosive offenses in the CFL. Bo Levi Mitchell is coming off another outstanding campaign, and the continuity within Scott Milanovich's offense cannot be overstated. Unlike many teams that spend training camp teaching new systems and terminology, Hamilton's core has been together long enough that the offense is operating at an advanced level already. Milanovich called it one of the most polished training camps he has ever been part of, and that's saying something. With Mitchell surrounded by a deep receiving corps that may be the best in the league, the Tiger-Cats have every reason to believe they can pick up right where they left off.

The defense does face an early challenge with prized free-agent acquisition Wynton McManis expected to miss the opener. However, Hamilton believes third-year linebacker Ryan Baker is ready for a much larger role. Baker spent the offseason focused on improving his strength and explosiveness and has reportedly been one of the biggest standouts in camp. The former fifth-round pick may not be a household name yet, but the organization clearly believes he is ready to handle the responsibility. Hamilton's confidence in Baker reflects a team that feels its depth is stronger than it has been in recent years.

Montreal remains one of the East Division's toughest opponents and deserves respect after another strong season. The Alouettes have built a consistent winner through smart roster management and strong defensive play. However, much of their ceiling rests on the health and effectiveness of quarterback Davis Alexander. Alexander showed flashes of brilliance last season, but recurring hamstring issues limited him and remain a concern entering the new campaign. Montreal has also undergone some turnover at key positions, particularly on defense, where replacing veteran leaders won't necessarily be seamless despite the organization's confidence in its replacements.

This number comes down to value. Montreal is a good football team, but Hamilton may have the highest offensive ceiling in the CFL and enters the season with continuity, confidence, and a veteran quarterback playing at an elite level. The Tiger-Cats have spent the last two years riding a roller coaster of hot streaks and cold stretches. This season feels different. The offense looks ready from Day 1, the roster has more depth, and the market is still treating Hamilton as if it has something to prove. At plus money in a home opener, we're willing to back the Tiger-Cats to make an early statement.
