7:00 PM EST. Calgary may be 0-2, but its record is far more misleading than its level of play. The Stampeders have lost their first two games by a combined five points, including an overtime heartbreaker against Saskatchewan after erasing a 14-point deficit. Vernon Adams Jr. has settled into the offense with 493 passing yards, while Dedrick Mills has been one of the CFL's most productive backs, rushing for 215 yards on 31 carries. Calgary is averaging 32.5 points and 150 rushing yards per game, giving the offense enough balance to control the tempo against a vulnerable BC defense.

The Lions have also opened 0-2, but their problems run much deeper than the standings. BC has surrendered 72 points in two games and is allowing a league-worst 36.0 points per contest. Opposing quarterbacks have consistently found success through the air, with the Lions giving up 348.5 passing yards per game and eight touchdown passes already this season. Nathan Rourke continues to generate yardage, but turnovers, stalled drives, and defensive breakdowns have prevented BC from turning production into victories. Until the Lions prove they can make stops in key situations, they'll remain difficult to trust as favorites.

This matchup sets up well for Calgary's offensive identity. Mills has been running behind a physical offensive line, and establishing the ground game should open play-action opportunities for Adams against a secondary that has struggled with explosive plays. Calgary has also shown resilience in both losses, battling back when trailing and proving it can compete with quality opponents. Those narrow defeats have masked a team that is performing much closer to playoff caliber than its record indicates.

There's urgency on both sidelines with each club searching for its first win, but Calgary enters with the more complete offensive attack and the stronger recent form despite the losses. The Stampeders have been competitive against two quality opponents, while BC's defensive issues continue to pile up. Expect Calgary to control the line of scrimmage, capitalize on the Lions' defensive mistakes, and finally break into the win column.
