Detroit +150 over Toronto

7:07 PM EST. OT included. The Leafs are solidly in third place in the Atlantic Division with two games to play, as they are five points back of the Panthers for second and five points up on the Lightning for fourth and the first Wild Card position. Well, technically, the Leafs could still move up or down; it would take an extreme scenario of them either winning or losing their three remaining games, while the Panthers would have to lose out, or the Bolts would have to win out to catch them. In short, you can write the Leafs versus Panthers in permanent marker onto your Stanley Cup brackets, and you’ll be good to go for round one, as Toronto figures to begin the playoffs on the road in Sunrise, Florida.

The Maple Leafs' playoff positioning isn’t even the story here, as all eyes are on Auston Matthews and his goal-scoring pace, which has him chasing 70. Coming into tonight, Matthews has 68 tallies, and he’s on a seven-game goal-scoring streak. Trust us when we tell you, to a man, the Maple Leafs are more interested in feeding AM34 than they are about where they are going to finish in the standings.

While the Maple Leafs are chasing personal goals, the Red Wings continue to fight tooth and nail for the final playoff position in the East, as they sit just one point back of Pittsburgh, whom they fell to, 6-5, in overtime on Thursday night. The Red Wings have played 79 games, just the same as the Flyers and Capitals, who are also one point back of the Pens with each side having played 79 games. While not everything, the Penguins and Red Wings post positive goal differentials of +5 and +1, respectively, while the Flyers (-26) and Capitals (-42) are in the red in that department. The Flyers have been in a free fall, while the Caps have been one of the luckiest teams on the planet since the All-Star break.

We expect the Red Wings to throw the kitchen sink at the Maple Leafs tonight, and if Toronto can respond and match that intensity, so be it, but situationally speaking and at this inflated price, all the value is on Detroit City and we’re not going to pass it up.
