Anaheim +125 over Calgary

10:07 PM EST. OT included. The Flames are the poster boys of “playing out the string,” as they limp into an offseason that is filled with more questions than answers, which is saying a lot for a team that has tried to reload and regroup but has failed to make it to the playoffs the last two seasons. Calgary showed up in body alone for last night’s game in Los Angeles versus the Kings, which the Flames lost 4-1, and that was their ninth loss in their last 11 games and twelfth in their last 16.

From the Flames' locker room to head coach Ryan Huska, there is a black cloud following this team, as both the coach and star forward Jonathan Huberdeau questioned the Flames' motivation in L.A. with Huberdeau stating, "They're a good team and showed it, but I think we've got to give a better effort. I think we've got to give a better effort to get some wins or at least compete against a team like that. Just put this one in the garbage and be better (tomorrow)." The reference to garbage is appropriate for Calgary, as the Flames are a total dumpster fire. Just what is going to motivate a veteran team that is playing the second half of a back-to-back and their third game in four nights to show up in lowly Anaheim?

Meanwhile, the Ducks are young and they are playing hard to end the year with their last win being a 3-1 effort versus the same Kings team that just walked all over Calgary. The Ducks are now 2-1-1 over their last four games, and head coach Greg Cronin likes what he’s seen from his team in their current lineup, "You could see the chemistry that was there (on Tuesday) and the last game as well, so I'm happy for them. They deserve to win more games than we've won this year." When a coach like Cronin takes up for his team like that, they want to play hard for him.

Furthermore, Jakob Silfverberg made the announcement that he would be retiring from the NHL at the end of the season, which means this is his last home game for the Ducks, a team he played 11 years for. If you don’t think it’s going to be all hands on deck for the Ducks to send Silfverberg off with the effort necessary to pick up a win, we have some Connor Bedard rookie cards you should have a look at. On no planet can a team that has quit like the Flames be favored in this range on the road against a plucky pooch that has much to play for on this night.
