Detroit +141 over Pittsburgh

The playoff vibes are strong with this one, as the Red Wings and Penguins are battling with the Capitals and Flyers for the final Wild Card (WC2) position in the Eastern Conference. The Penguins have made a strong late-season surge to put themselves into position to make the postseason dance, winning six of their last eight games, but they could be a little road-weary here after having to travel after their last seven games.

Going back to March 28, the Pens went from Pittsburgh to Columbus, New York, New Jersey, Washington, back to Pittsburgh, and finally to Toronto, where they dropped a 3-2 overtime decision in a hard-fought game versus the Maple Leafs. There is no denying the Pens are playing their best hockey of the season, but with that comes an uptick in their market value, as they are a team that still has pedigree in the market.

The Red Wings are the opposite of the Pens in the department, as Detroit's market credibility has been in the tank for years, as they’ve missed the playoffs for seven straight years. The Wings were not expected to make a run this season, but here they are after 78 games with a chance to do just that. On Tuesday night, the Red Wings were tough luck losers to Washington, as they outshot the Caps 43-23, but lost that game, 2-1.

Like the Pens, the Wings are just sitting with 84 points, with three games to play and both are a point back of Washington for WC2. While we cannot predict how all those teams are going to shake out in the end, we do trust that we are going with the best of it here in backing the Red Wings as they present us with some great value in a game they absolutely can win.
